Adults!
Attention, attention, all parents/guardians/ old people, this is to let you know that our lifes are not as easy as they might seem. Its really disturbing when adults assume that all we do is facebook, texting, and school. Facebook and texting may be true but school brings many complications to the life of a teenager. We've got texts, quizzes (and yes they are two completely different things) , clubs, sports, personal "feelings" and problems. And it doesn't make it any easier when you guys yell at us instead of helping us. So adults please have mercy on our lovely little souls. Also, about the responsibility stuff, don't push it too far we're just kids. I have no hesitation in saying that every adult has done something they were not supposed to do. But seriously, if you don't give us a chance how can we please you, i on the other hand have lost all my chances. I today lost my older brothers scarf at a school function and also broken/lost many of his things, i hope you may find a place in your heart to forgive me Charles. Finally, i would like to thank all the adults who took time out of their busy schedule to read this and remember talk, don't yell. It just pisses us off.

So this is how other young adults feel!? I'm quite happy that I'm not alone, and for the chance to hear another side of the story, typically what I observe from many young people is a cold stare, near absolute reticence and no sense of remorse. This is what frustrates adults. I'm also a young adult and can't speak for the true adults but take your brothers scarf. I'm pretty sure he cares nothing for that you lost the scarf but that you completely fail to reflect on the incident and to learn something useful from the experience such as responsibility for other peoples or even communally owned objects. Be honest, did you pause by yourself to examine what it means to loose something that another might hold dear? Did you consider what emotional or sentimental attachment he may have had for this dark blue scarf with grey bands - oh, was that the color, just guessing? That perhaps it was a present from his Uncle "Kuffo" or that it bore the scent of his girlfriends perfume, which girl has since dumped him? I mean the possibilities are endless here...
ReplyDeleteLMAO, sorry about your scarf but you are one of them and their is no denying it. Don't worry i will get u a new scarf spray some perfume on it and have it delivered by Uncle "Kuffo":)
ReplyDeleteI think you have me confused with another. I'm dabbling in meditation these days and have these spooky experiences where I pull details from peoples lives out of where I know not. In any event, I doubt your brother is concerned about reparation as such, if I were to guess I'd say that having truly and deeply learned to appreciate the privilege of communal life vis a vis personal values trumps or outweighs any reparation you could offer. Besides your suggestion fails to recognize the underlying uniqueness of the lost object. It is precisely because even a combination of Uncle 'Kuffo' re-delivering the scarf and your perfume is still different from the original that makes the experience so meaningful, I mean for one thing my girlfriend.... I meant his girlfriend.... well, whatever! Your current outlook suggests what I suspected in my earlier post, this believe that 'its only a scarf, and it can be replaced!' both of which are true but incomplete truths , some things cannot be undone. The minute Brutus entertained Cassius' ideas, he had stepped into a trap and on a very slippery slope! The minute you question Caesars greatness, all bets are off!
ReplyDeletePlease don't suggest this to your brother, he might walk away and cry alone in his room, if he didn't do that already. Not that it would be a very matured thing to do but the heart often aches for what the mind has no explanation for...
PS Where are your girlfriends, Esther and Abena? I'd like to hear their opinions on this, have you shared the link with them? OMG, I think I did it again, are those their names? WOW! This is getting really spooky!
Also, don't respond to this immediately, it gives you away and creates the impression that you don't have a life and are just waiting on the computer killing time, which I'm sure your brother might counsel against, in fact wasn't that what he and you agreed on?!
